Split Shaft to Single Shaft Conversion:  We can convert your existing split shaft carburetors to the single shaft type using new throttle shafts for an additional $180.

Single Shaft Housings: Remachine two twin housings, early single shaft type.

 

The barrels are bored < 1mm; just enough to remove the groove created from the throttle plate and make the barrel round again.  Housings are re-bushed. A brass bushing is inserted into the pump adjusting lever as well.

If the original throttle plates are not bent, we can increase their overall diameter and then machine the plate to the new bore size with the correct beveled angle. If the plates are bent, or at the customer's request, we will machine new throttle plates from metric spec sheet brass.

The throttle arm return spring tabs are welded and then re-drilled.

New M8 ballpins are peened on the throttle arms as needed.

 


Split Shaft Housings: Re-machine two twin housings, later split shaft type.

The above work includes four newly machined throttle barrels, new bushings, remachined throttle plates, flanges milled flat.

 

 

Instructions:  Housings must be completely empty and pre-cleaned.  Ship only with throttle arm, shafts, and butterflies left in place.  Check the bottom bores of the idle jets.  If the seats are crushed or appear like cat eyes, the housings cannot be rebuilt.

Single Shaft Complete: Re-machine and completely rebuild, bench test two twin single shaft carburetors, re-plate all hardware (specify yellow or clear); ready to run.

 

Our rebuild kits are custom made to our specs:
The washers are aluminum instead of paper.
The top gasket is twice the thickness as in the commercially available kits, which resemble a paper grocery bag.
We use NOS Solex needle/seat valves with all our rebuilds.

 

 

This pair is shown with NOS Solex mixture screws. Finding new ones now is difficult.

 

 

Float and pump volume is preset. The brass pump squinters are adjusted to the correct position.
 


 

Split Shaft Complete: Re-machine and completely rebuild, bench test two split shaft carburetors, re-plate all hardware (specify yellow or clear).

 

Instructions:   For Single Shaft or Split Shaft, send complete carburetors as taken off the engine. Just remove the air cleaner platforms and drain out the gas.  DO NOT SEND MANIFOLDS!

Send complete carburetors as removed from engine. Just remove etc.
